Payne, Mildred

Mildred Geraldean Reiners Payne, 87, of Petersburg, widow of Michael Hollivey Payne, Jr., passed away Monday, August 13, 2007. Born March 28, 1920 in Portsmouth, VA, she was the daughter of the late William Fredrick and Bessie Marek Reiners. She was a 1938 graduate of Petersburg High School and a former employee of the Arnold Pen Company in Petersburg. She was a former member of Memorial United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years and was presently a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. Mrs. Payne is survived by her daughter, Jane Marie Payne of Petersburg and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, August 15, at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dale Gillis and the Rev. Jimmy Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Blandford Cemetery. Dear Jane,

I was saddened by the passing of your beloved mother. She was truly a wonderful "mom". She adored you as I remember our "West High St. days." God bless you for all the years of devotion to her. How blessed you are to have had her for all these years.
