Walter Charles Williams, 69, of Hopewell died Sunday, August 12, 2007 in the Veterans Hospital in Richmond, VA. Mr. Williams was born in Hammond, In and following his military retirement made his home in Hopewell, VA. He was a member of VFW Post #637, American Legion #146, Prince George Masonic Lodge AF&AM, the ACCA Temple and retired from the U.S. Army as a Sergeant First Class. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Kenneth and Eleanor Bourrell Williams, his wife, Ethel Ann Thompson Williams, a grandson, Benjamin Nicely and a brother, Gene Williams. He is survived by two daughters, Donna W. Nicely of Waverly, Lois A. Williams of Hopewell and a son, Louis C. Williams also of Hopewell, five grandchildren, Amanda L. Williams, Aliea A. Nicely, Katelyn Williams, Jeffery Williams and Branden L. Nicely. A Masonic service will be held Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at 7:00 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service with visitation following until 8:30 PM. A graveside service with full military honors will be held Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at 2:00 PM in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Randy Hawkins, pastor of Newville Baptist Church officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, Ohio, 44720. I was privileged to know Chuck Williams. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a great listener, and I am sorry to say it has a been a long time since we had talked.
He was lucky to have a loving family, and many friends in the community. He will be missed.
I was shocked to hear of your loss. May happy memories carry you through. Chuck was a wonderful person always pleasant, professional and truly a gentleman. Find comfort in knowing you were a special part of such a well-lived life.

To the Williams Family, Chuck was always very sweet to me and he talked of his family often. I just spoke with him on August 9, he again was very sweet and upbeat. He was a true asset to DeCA and to friendship. I pray for your strength at this difficult time and wish you peace.

I am extremely sorry for your loss. I was at the VA Friday morning and stopped in and spent some time with Chuck. I am glad that I had the opportunity to visit when I did.
He had just stop by to say hello to his co-workers 3 weeks ago. It was always a pleasure to see him. Chuck will be truely missed by the Deca family. For the family, I am so sorry for your loss. May the peace of our Lord be with you all.
