Kenneth “Ken” G. Brimer 75 of Petersburg, VA, formerly of Pocomoke, Maryland, departed this life on July 21, 2007. He was a Master Sergeant who retired from the Army after 22 years and served in Korea, Vietnam and Germany. Mr. Brimer served as a commander of VFW Post 2239 from 2000 to 2001 and was a very active member of Highland United Methodist and will truly be missed by everyone. He is survived by his wife, Margaret of 53 years; one son, Douglass Ford and wife, Barbara of Chester, VA; one daughter, Linda J. Holley and fiancé William Cottee of Colonial Heights; four grandchildren, Kimberly A. Chitwood and husband, Greg of Ferrum, VA, Wendy M. Melara and husband, Julio of Richmond, VA, Michelle L. Newell of Midlothian, VA and Kenny D. Holley and wife, Rhonda of Chester, VA; six great-grandchildren, Austin D. Ford, Tyler D. Chitwood, Alyssa D. Newell, Hannah M. Chitwood, Rachel E. Holley and Reyna E. Melara. Also surviving are two brothers, Edward L. Brimer and Maurice J. Brimer and wife, Janice of Pocomoke City, MD; one sister, Laura M. Smith of Virginia Beach, VA and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 25th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Funeral Services will be held at Highland United Methodist Church on Westover Ave. in Colonial Heights on Thursday, July 26th at 3:00 p.m. The Reverend Keith Ritchie will officiate. The interment will be at Southlawn Memorial Park in Prince George, VA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Highland United Methodist Church or The American Cancer Society. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH GRANDPA AND I AM THANKFULL YOU ARE IN A BETTER PLACE. I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU WITH ALL MY HEART. YOU WERE SUCH A BLESSING IN MY LIFE AND EVEN MORE TO MY CHILDREN. I have fond memories of Mr. Brimer picking me up as a child swinging me over his head as he did Wendy. He was always a fun loving caring and compasionate man. He will truly be missed. Wendy I know how much he ment to you and I am truly sorry for your loss. He was a wonderful human being.

Mr. Brimer was a wonderful and giving man - a true gentleman. He was chivalrous and kind. You only had to spend a few minutes with him to know this.
I remember how proud he was the day he walked Wendy down the aisle, how loving he was with Reyna at her first birthday party. He had such a great sense of humor...and his smile was contagious!

Mrs. Brimer, I know that this is a really hard time for you loosing Kenneth, but just remember all the good times that you had together for 53 years of marriage. Doug, Barbara, Kim and Michelle, I know that you don't always understand why people that we love have to leave us, but just remember that your father, father-n-law and grandfather is no longer hurting. Linda, I will always be there for you, I know that you are hurting right now and I truly understand what you are feeling. Wendy, you were so special to your Granddad, I am here if you need me. Kenny, just remember the love you shared with your granddad. To all of you I know that he loved and cherished each and everyone of you. I loved his hugs most of all.
