Purdie, Roy L.

Roy Lee “Pete” Purdie, 73, of Wallace, North Carolina, formerly of Matoaca, died Thursday, June 28, 2007 in Waverly. He was born in Matoaca. Mr. Purdie was a member of a Baptist Church in North Carolina, and a retired self-employed truck driver. He was preceded in death by his parents, Early and Floria Kersey Purdie. Surviving are his wife, Doris Rackley Purdie of Wallace, N.C., a sister, Gloria Crocker, three sons, Roy Lee Purdie, Jr. and wife Melissa of McKenny, Kenneth R. Lee Purdie and wife Linda of Disputanta, Ronald Wayne Purdie and wife Rebecca of Dinwiddie, a daughter Ann P. McNew and friend Alan Wood of Dinwiddie, and five step-children . The family will receive friends Saturday June 30, 2007 from 5-7 P.M. at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son. A graveside service will be held Sunday, July 1, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. in East Matoaca Cemetery, Matoaca, Va., with Rev. Bev. McDowell officiating. Condolences may be registered with www.jtmorriss.com
