Matovich, Stephen L.

Stephen LeGrande “Lee” Matovich, 60, of Sutherland, VA, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2007 at his residence. Born in Petersburg, he was the son of the late Stephen and Virginia Dare Perkinson Matovich. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mason LeGrande and Elizabeth Fuqua Perkinson. He was a graduate of Oak Ridge High School in Oak Ridge, TN, and received degrees from Richard Bland College and Virginia Commonwealth University. After completing his education, he began a career in farming, operating Marmora Farms (Perkinson’s Farm) in Sutherland until his death. Lee is survived by his long-time companion, Bonnie E. Hexamer and her son, Buddy Hexamer; sister, Virginia L. Seamens and husband, Francis of Pennsylvania; brother, Mason L. Matovich of Richmond; four nieces and one nephew. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday, June 28, at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service with the Reverend Gracie Gibbs Scott and Jimmy Olgers officiating.
