Helen Hyatt Jackson, 88, passed away Wednesday, May 02, 2007 at Consulate Healthcare Center in Windsor, Virginia. Born in Suffolk, VA she was the daughter of the late James Tilman Hyatt and Indiana Ellis Hyatt. Along with her late husband, Jesse N. Jackson, Mrs. Jackson was owner/operator of Jackson’s Grocery on E. Washington St. in Suffolk for over 20 years. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, and West End Baptist Church, Suffolk.
She is survived by a sister, Mildred Hearn Schillaci and husband, Joseph, of Smithfield; sister-in-law, Blanche Morrison, San Diego, CA; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 4, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at West End Baptist Church, 501 W. Washington St., Suffolk, with the Rev. Skip Irby officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Lawn Cemetery in Suffolk. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. The Purviance Chapel of J. T.
