Perkins, John Edward

John Edward Perkins, 81, of Hopewell died Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at his residence. Mr. Perkins was a life time resident of Hopewell. He was retired from the United States Coast Guard, was a Deacon Emeritus at Unity Baptist Church, and was a retired operator from Allied Chemical Corporation. Mr. Perkins was the son of the late Thomas Edward and Victoria Roman Perkins. He is survived by his wife, Jere Goddere Perkins of Hopewell, two daughters, Frances P. Norriss of Hopewell, Cheryle Y. P. Hodges and her husband David of Partlow, VA, four grandchildren, Michael, Vickie, Ryan and Angela, 8 great grandchildren, Erica, Rick, Anna, Kari, Kitara, P. J., Xander and Talon. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 19, 2007 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held Friday, April 20, 2007 at 2:00 PM in Unity Baptist Church, Mt. Sinai Road, Prince George, with the Rev. Dr. Alex Roberts, pastor of Unity Baptist Church and Rev. Jim Adams, Chaplain of Odyssey Health Care, officiating. Interment will be in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, Prince George. Memorial contributions may be made to Hopewell Emergency Crew, P.O. Box 572, Hopewell, Virginia 23860 or your favorite charity. Condolences may be registered with www.jtmorriss.com
