Griswold, Midred C.

Mildred Clements Griswold of Petersburg, died Tuesday, April 10, 2007, born on June 28, 1920 in Petersburg, as the second daughter of Judge Edwin Fenton Clements and Mary Wilson Coleman. Her two siblings were, Mary Louise Clements Brooks, of Virginia Beach, Virginia and the late Edwin M. Clements of Louisville, Kentucky. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Richmond Professional Institute in Fine Arts and painted portraiture, still life and landscape for many years. She met and married, John Wilfred Griswold of Alhambra, California, to whom she was married for over 64 years. She is survived by three children, Susan Griswold Brown, John Edwin Griswold and Dr. Martha Ann Griswold and two grandchildren, Virginia Spencer Griswold and David Hamilton Griswold. She was a resident of the City of Petersburg and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church for all of her life. A memorial service will be held 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2007 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service with a private interment.
