Hart, George A. L.

George Anne Lewis Hart, died Monday, March 5, 2007 at her home, 10669 Johnson Road in Petersburg. She had suffered for some time with cancer and heart disease, both fought quietly, with good humor, grace and a smile. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Kirby T. Hart; a sister, Mrs. Harry F. Webb, Jr.; and a cousin, Dr. William B. Russell; a son, Mr. Kirby T. Hart, III and wife, Carole; two grandchildren, Jason Thompson Hart, Daniel Christopher Hart and wife, Angelica and a niece, Mrs. John D. Fenessy. Mrs. Hart was a member of an old Petersburg family and lived here most of her life. She graduated from Longwood College where she was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sority and several scholastic and social organizations. In Petersburg, she was a member of the Garden Club of Virginia, The Petersburg Garden Club, and the Second Presbyterian Church. She taught school in Martinsville, VA and Colonial Heights, VA. prior to her marriage in 1950. Speaking as her husband of fifty-six years, I’ll give her an “A+” with honors for her entrance exam to the heavenly academe. Graveside services will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Wednesday March 7, 2007 at Blandford Cemetery. The family being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Second Presbyterian Church, 419 Washington Street, Petersburg, VA 23803 and Crater Community Hospice, 840 W. Roslyn Road, Suite E., Colonial Heights, VA 23834. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.

Dear Kirby and family, Carl and I were so sorry to hear of George Anne's death. She was such a "great gal". Always friendly, always looking good. We know that she willbe sorely missed. Our hearts go out to you.

We will miss George Ann. She had a great presence, extra-ordinary courage and always a smile on her face despite the health problems she encountered. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dr. Hart and the family.

She was a wonderful woman. I will always remember carpool when she drove. My thoughts are with you Dr. Hart and the rest of your family.

The Hart Family:
Goerge Anne was one of the greatest people I ever knew. I owe her more than I can ever repay. She took care of my mother through 5 years of cancer never receiving any reward except frienship. God will bless this wonderful & caring person.
