Matthews, Pauline W.

Pauline Weston Matthews, 91, a longtime resident of Hopewell and Prince George County, passed away Sunday February 25, 2007. Mrs. Matthews was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Griffin Matthews. She is survived by her son, James O. Matthews and wife, Martha, of Charlotte, NC, her daughter, Brenda M. Taylor and husband, Bob, of Arnold, MD, sisters, Edith W. Jennings of Hopewell and Jerri W. Collier and husband, Herman, of Southern Pines, NC, 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. Mrs. Matthews retired after a long career as an executive secretary with Allied Chemical Corporation. She was an Elder Emeritus and active member of Woodlawn Presbyterian Church and a longtime volunteer with the John Randolph Hospital Auxiliary. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 28, 2007, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A graveside service will be held Thursday, March 1, 2007 at 11 a.m. in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, Prince George, County. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial gifts be made to Woodlawn Presbyterian Church, 1201 Blackstone Avenue, Hopewell, VA 23860.

Jimmy, Brenda and families - Just a note to let you know that I am sorry yet grateful to hear the news of your mother. After so many years of suffering she is now finally with your dad and her beloved family members. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. May God bless you.

Jim and Brenda - I haven't seen either of you for many years. I remember your Mom as a great lady. She'll be missed but there will be many good memories. Deepest sympathy.
