Jane Insley Babb, 65, died Saturday, February 24, 2007 at Tandem Healthcare in Windsor, VA. She is survived by her husband of 18 years, C. Donald Babb. Born June 19, 1941 in Messick (Poquoson), VA, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert J. and Alice L. Hopkins Insley. Mrs. Babb was a former member of Poquoson Baptist Church in Poquoson and a more recent member of Mill Swamp Baptist Church in Ivor.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Babb is survived by two sons, John C. Heywood and wife, Julie of Poquoson, Gilbert W. Moore and wife, Diana of Marietta OH; five daughters, Dora Jean Heywood of Portsmouth, Rebecca H. Gage and husband, David of California, Loretta H. Shaffer and husband, Steve of Ohio, Tammy L. Heywood of Portsmouth, and Jennifer J. Babb and husband, Alan of Ohio; three brothers, Sidney L. Insley and wife, Loretta of Poquoson, Joseph G. Insley and wife, Louise of Hampton, and Thomas D. Insley and wife, Joan of Surry; two sisters, Emily I. Forrest of Poquoson, Paulette I. Evans and husband, Wayne of Hampton; four stepsons, Donald W. Babb and wife, Virginia of California, Glenn H. Babb and wife, Bettye of Jackson TN, Alan B. Babb and wife, Jennifer of Ohio, and Brian E. Babb of Virginia Beach VA; fifteen grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Babb was predeceased by a son, James Russell Heywood; a grandson, Michael Heywood; three brothers, Howard Faye Insley, David James Insley, and Charles Michael Insley; and a sister, Alice Mae Firth.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Mill Swamp Baptist Church, Ivor, with the Rev. Jim Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Ivor Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Mill Swamp Baptist Church on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Mill Swamp Baptist Church (Building Fund), c/o Rebecca S. Munford, 8100 Mill Swamp Rd., Ivor, VA 23866 or the American Cancer Society/Petersburg Unit, Wesy Chappell, 1117 Ft. Hayes Dr., Petersburg, VA 23805. Purviance Chapel, J.T. We have known Donald and Jane Babb for years from Mill Swamp Baptist. They are both sweet people, and Jane is going to be dearly missed. I will always remember her, as one who would always give a smile and a hug to you. Donald, you are in our prayers.
