I became acquainted with Mertie Ashworth through two of her grandsons who are also my co-workers--Rick and Barry (Randy) Ashworth. I also came to know her through my wife, Harriet, who works at Colonial Heights Convalescent Center--Mertie's last home.

I didn't know her very well, and I only visited her a handful of times in the past year or so. However, it was obvious to me that Mertie Ashworth was a woman of great faith who had a far-reaching influence on her family. I am praying tonight that Jesus will give her the rest he has promised her. I am also praying that God will continue to use her faith and good works to make this world a better place.

We loved Mertie very much and knew her to be a wonderful Christian mother. She is with her Lord now, where there will be no more pain or suffering and will remember her life here on earth. She was a good and faithful servant to her Master, the Lord Jesus Christ.

To the children, grandchildren and great children, if you want to see her again, make sure you are right with the LORD.

Love to all
