Smith, Edith M.

Edith Minor Smith, 78, died February 21, 2007 after a brief illness. She was born July 28, 1928 in Henderson, N.C. to the late Vernon G. and Sally C. Minor. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Roy M. Smith, Jr. She is survived by three children, Donald Smith, Nancy Washabaugh and Steven Smith and his wife, Boni, all of Chesterfield; five grandchildren, Kelly Hawker, Kevin and Brian Smith, Corey Washabaugh and Vicki Warnock; seven great-grandchildren, Issac, Nathan and Sydney Smith, Elizabeth and Dylan Washabaugh, Preston and Alexis Warnock. Edith was a homemaker with a true love for wonderful homecooking and had a passion for growing plants and gardening. She was a member of Bermuda Hundred United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 23rd from 6 to 8 PM at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 AM in the Chester Chapel, with the Rev. Jan Prentace, pastor of Bermuda Hundred United Methodist Church officiating.
