McDuffie, John L.

John Lester McDuffie, 77, of Hopewell, died Monday, February 19, 2007, in St. Francis Medical Center. He was a retired Sergeant in the U.S. Army serving on the USS Coral Sea. and was a member of the Military Retiree Club. After his retirement, Mr. McDuffie was manager of East Coast and Crown service stations. He was the son of the late Harley L. and Lottie Almans McDuffie. Mr. McDuffie is survived by his wife, Ella Nelms McDuffie of Hopewell, three daughters Melba J. Bennett, Patsy J. Sebera & husband, Thomas, and Barbara A. Causey, all of Hopewell, and a son, Danny W. McDuffie & wife, Linda, of Geneva, AL., 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, two sisters, Virginia Wiley of SC, and Myrtle Testora of FL and two brothers, Dwight McDuffie of SC and Douglas McDuffie of FL.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 21, 2007, from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with The Rev. Joseph Elmore, pastor of Crowder Memorial Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. Contributions may be made to the Building Fund of Crowder Memorial Baptist Church, 3018 County Drive, Petersburg, VA 23805. I knew John from Crowder Church which he truly loved .John was such a nice person he will be truly missed. To the Family you all are in our hearts and prayers.GOD BLESS.
