Simmons, Rev. Jack

Rev. Jack W. Simmons, 83, of Hopewell, VA., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 13, 2007. He was born December 17,1923 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Laura Johnson Simmons, four brothers, Walter, Troy, Clarence, and Ku Simmons, three sisters, Betty, Mary Lou, and Velma. Survivors include his beloved wife of 66 years Ruby Bateman Simmons, a son, Thomas “Wayne” Simmons, two daughters, Mary Lou Smiley and husband Edward, Kathy S. Jenkins and husband Glenn, four grandchildren, Michael Smiley, Mark Smiley, Jamie Cosley and wife Kristy, Stephen Jenkins, one great-grandchild, Tyler Cosley ,a brother, Roy Simmons of Williamsburg and sister-in-law, Jeanette Simmons, many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service Thursday, February 15, 2007 from 7-8:30 PM. A funeral services will be Friday, February 16, 2007 in the South Hopewell Church of God, at 11:00 A.M with Rev. Walter Simms, pastor, officiating. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I will always remember Bro. Simmons most for the singing schools he did at Poplar Springs Church of God.
