Barbara:
I'm so very sorry about Bill. We started our new man's classes together in 1972. I always looked forward to working with him on the field as I knew we would have a great crew. On or off the field he was a true professional, a friend willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. The both of you have been close friends for such a long time. I will be at the funeral tomorrow. I'm leaving very early and will see you then. May God bless and keep you.

I just saw Mr. Henley's obituary in the Progress Index. I did not know Mr. Henley, but I went to school with his sister, Beverly, in Aberdeen, MS. Mr. Henley's Aunt, Wildia, was married to my Uncle Jean. They were from Prairie, MS. My family and I have lived in Colonial Heights for 18 years. Please accept my sincere condolences on your loss. From the comments left above, Mr. Henley was a fine gentleman and one who I wish I could have known.
May God Bless all of you,

As a Member of the Central Virginia Football Officials Association, I had the privilege of knowing Bill for 30 years. Bill was not only a Professional on the football field but also off the field. I will always treasure the memories of Bill and will miss him greatly.

As a former soldier and a member of The Central Virginia Football Official Association, it was a privilege to meet Bill when I was a younger official. It was a blessing to work with Bill for twenty plus years. Yes, I will miss Bill, but he will never be forgotten.

From an old high school contemporary from Aberdeen, MS I want to extend my sympathy to all the family. I have memories of Red's football days in high school and remember how good he was. His sister, Musa, and I were classmates. I am keeping all the family in my thoughts and prayers.

To the Family of Bill Henley

As a former Marine and a Member of the Central Virginia Football Officials Association I had the privilege and honor of knowing Bill for about 35 years. Bill was always positive, professional and His presence was appreciated by all he came into contact with. Bill was a role model I'm sure for young Marines and I know for young football officials. I knew when Bill was with me on Friday nights things would go well.I treasure the time I spent with Bill and he will be missed by all.

Bill will be greatly missed, he was a true and caring friend, always there to help in time of need. The great memories will always be there, cookouts, target shooting, house projects with Bill Jr and just plain old good guy talk. Bill may you rest in peace and your in the hands of god now.
God Bless

Bill meant a lot to me years ago as a young referee in the CVFOA. As the years went on I truly enjoyed our freindship and time on the field together. He was a great teacher and friend. His service to the CVFOA and to it's member will be valued for many years to come. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.

Although I only knew Bill for a short time he was a lot of fun to be around. As a military retiree I enjoyed hearing his "war stories" about his days in the Marines. I'm told he was a wonderful football official back in the day. He definitely contributed to our chapter. My sympathies are with your family at this time.

Godspeed,
