To the Garfinkel family,

I was so sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. Even though I haven't lived in Hopewell in quite some time I remember fondly shopping at her store and how sweet and friendly she was to everyone. My thoughts and prayers are with your family during this difficult time.

Dear Susan,
Please accept my deepest condolences on your mother's passing. Although it's been many years since I've seen her or you I have many fond memories of shopping in your wonderful store. I could always find just what I needed for whatever the occasion. And you and I had such fun together in high school, especially on our grand tour of Europe while in college. I know well the pain of losing a parent and know how difficult this must be for you and your dad and brothers. Please know that all of you are in my thoughts and prayers. May the love and support of family and friends be of comfort to you.

`It was with great sadness that I discovered that Frances had died. She was such a strong woman and role model for the rest of us. I first got to know Frances in an aerobics class downtown and she made those of us who were younger wonder if we could ever be as fit as she. Of course she had already walked 5 miles and was going to play a round of golf when she left our exercise class. So, as I struggled to complete the class without embarrassing myself, she was rready to "tee off". It is only fitting that this is the first condolence that I have ever made on the net. (I found out through an e-amil as well!)This new way of communicating to those who are grieving reflects her sense of vivacious style and remarkable flair for starting new trends. My utmost affection and prayers are with you today especially and as you go forward. Hopewell will not be the same without Frances, but I'm sure Frances is depending on you all to continue to live with the vigor and devotion she so graciously modeled.

My very best,

Susan Butterworth

My prayers are with your family. Frances was a lovely person and I will always remember how sweet and accommodating she was with the customers at Garfinkels Clothing. I admire the devotion to her caregiving that the children and Seymour have shared during her last several years when her health began to fail. She was so blessed to have all of you as we were all blessed to have known her.

Dear Seymour, Harry, Susan and Ray--so saddened to read about Frances' death. So many wonderful memories go back to the 1960's, etc., when you kids were just little kids and I will never forget Frances and Seymour Garfinkel and how gracious they were through the years. Please know that you all are in my prayers, even though I have been in Dallas now for the past 27 years and think about you all from time to time. Love to all during this sorrowful time.
