Hazelwood, Doris

Doris “Hilda” Hazelwood, 78, of Hopewell, VA surrendered her fight with Breast Cancer on Saturday, January 27, 2007, to be with the Lord. She passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home. Hilda, born in Franklin, NC, became a resident of Hopewell at the age of 12. She was the daughter of the late James H. Carelock and Mattie Belle Carelock Redd and stepdaughter of the late Allen L. Redd, and wife of the late Garland L. Hazelwood, Jr. She was a retiree from Hercules, Inc. and longtime member of First Baptist Church of Hopewell. Surviving are her daughter, Pamela H. Winne and husband Robert M. Winne, along with their two children, Zachary, and Brooke of Chester, VA. Her son, Richard G. Hazelwood and wife Tina V. Hazelwood along with their three children, daughters Amanda B. Denny and Brittney N. Hazelwood of Hopewell, VA and son Robert E. Denny, Jr. of Grey, GA. Brothers, Charles V. Carelock and wife Joanne, of Petersburg, VA, Robert H. Carelock and wife, Elaine, of Peachtree City, GA. Sister, Evelyn Carelock Harrison, of Midlothian, VA. Three sisters- in- law, Myrtle Carelock, Annie Carelock and Arlette H. Fauntleroy, all of Hopewell, and several nephews and nieces, all of whom she loved dearly. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 31, 2007, from 6-8 p.m. in the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2007 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Hopewell, with The Rev. Jeff Raymond, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park in Chester. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Doris Hilda Hazelwood to First Baptist Church, 401 2nd Ave. Hopewell, VA 23860 or Crater Community Hospice, 840 W. Roslyn Rd. So sorry to hear about your Mom. I had prior appointment scheduled & could not make it to the Funeral Home.
I always think of her on March 24th - her & Connie have the same birthday.
