Thomas Franklin Dodds, 73, a resident of Wakefield died Tuesday, January 23, 2007, at Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, VA. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Clara “Lorraine” Dodds. Born November 1, 1933 in Chama, NM, he was the son of the late Thomas Edward Dodds and Margaret Smith Dodds. Mr. Dodds served in the Marine Corps for 4 years and retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant after 20 years.

Besides his wife, he is also survived by two sons, Woodrow W. Dodds and Paul J. Dodds, Sr.; two daughters, Patricia R. Younglove and Terri L. Bennett; two brothers, William E. Dodds and Jimmy Dodds; two sisters, Eula Hutchins and Harriett Parker; nine grandchildren; and one special “daughter,” Lorraine H. Curling.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 26, 2007 at 2:00 o’clock p.m. at the Purviance Chapel, J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Wakefield. Interment will follow in the Moore’s Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery, Surry, VA, with Rev. Dan Wicket officiating. The family will receive friends at Purviance Chapel on Thursday, January 25, 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
