ETHEL SHEFFIELD PEFFER, age 82, a lifelong resident of Waverly VA died Dec. 31, 2006. She was the widow of Jesse James Peffer, SR and the mother of the late Jesse J. Peffer JR. Born on Aug. 7, 1924 in Sussex County, she was the daughter of the late John William Sheffield and Laura Emory Sheffield. She was a member of the Waverly Congregational Christian Church She is survived by two daughters, Joan P. Allison and her husband, Walter of Franklin A funeral service will be held on Wed. Jan.3, 2007 at 1:00 PM in Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield with the Rev. Joy Heaton and William Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Waverly Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tues. evening from 7:00 - 8:30 PM. Memorial donations may be sent to Waverly Rescue Squad, Waverly Volunteer Fire Department or Waverly Congregational Christian Church. Purviance Chapel of J. T.
