Bernidine Elvira “Eva” Pierce, 85 of Colonial Heights, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 28, 2006. She was the daughter of the late Dominic and Anna Buccilli. She was the widow of Joseph A. Pierce, Sr. She was a retired employee of 23 years with A& P. She is survived by four daughters, Jane Lee (Charles) of Prince George, Ann Kemp (Roger) of Colonial Heights, Barbara Marks of Matoaca and Dorothy Ott (Lonnie) of Matoaca; son, Joseph A. Pierce, Jr. (Wendy) of New Kent, VA, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister, Hilda Smarelli of Mass., nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday December 30, 2006 in Blandford Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m.Friday at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Colonial Heights Fire & Rescue, P.O. Box 3401, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. It was my pleasure to be one of the customers Eva served during her years with A&P. I would pass up shorter lines in order to have her check me out. Always cheerful and friendly and always efficient, she was one of those rare folks who elevated an ordinary job into an art. She will be remembered with great affection.
