Yeatts, Dillard

Friday, December 22, 2006

Dillard Jefferson Yeatts, 73, formerly of Chester, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home in Dinwiddie on Friday, December 22, 2006, surrounded by his family after a long courageous battle with lung cancer. Dillard was a faithful member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church where he was “the word made flesh” to countless souls. He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Elizabeth Norford Yeatts, who was also his perfect nurse throughout his illness; two daughters, Bonnie King and husband Jeff of Smithfield, and Wanda Perkinson of Dinwiddie; one granddaughter, KeLeigh, who was his “Scalliewag”; and four step-grandchildren, Crystal, Harley, Brandon and Damion Perkinson; three sisters, Evelyn Hamlett of South Carolina; Rachel Pillow of Richmond and Dorothy McLean of Mechanicsville; and numerous nieces and nephews to whom he was a favorite uncle. Dillard will always be remembered for his fabulous sense of humor and the jokes he told will forever bring smiles to many. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 23, 2006, at the Chester Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, from 4 pm to 6 pm. His funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, December 24, 2006, at Oak Grove UMC, 12715 Acorn Drive, Petersburg, Virginia, at 2 pm with burial to follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church’s building fund. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.

Alta and I express our deep sympathy in your loss. We remember the ole days when we lived on Harrowgate Road and our kids Wanda and Tommy went to school with Bonnie.
