Eldridge, Jack A.

Jack Arthur Eldridge, 63, of Hopewell died Friday, December 1, 2006 in John Randolph Medical Center. He was born in Wise County, Virginia. Mr. Eldridge was a member of the Hopewell Optimist Club, a member of First United Methodist Church and a retired Data Processing manager with Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation. He was the son of the late George H. and Margaret Napier Eldridge. Mr. Eldridge is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Alice Bishop Eldridge of Hopewell, and was a devoted father to his daughter, Robin Denise Eldridge of Richmond. He is also survived by a sister, Rebecca S. Drinks, an aunt Edith A. Jenkins, both of Baltimore, MD, and an uncle, James G. Napier and his wife June of Andover, VA. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 3, 2006 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held Monday, December 4, 2006 at 11:00 AM in the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. O. H. Burton, pastor officiating. Interment will be in Appomattox Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 502 W. Broadway, Hopewell, Virginia, 23860 or the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, Virginia 23060. Alice and family,
Our memories take us back to Andover and Appalachia High School. We had some great times together back home. We want to extend to you and all the family our deepest sympathy and love. Alice, I'm so sorry about Jack's death. He and I were good friends growing up in Andover. We did many things togeather, camping out, playing baseball and all the other things boys do growing up do togeather, my thoughts and prayers will be with you and your daughter during this difficult time.
