Hamm, Doris P.

Doris Pond Hamm, 77, of Ettrick, passed away Sunday November 26, 2006 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Meredith M. & Ruth Butler Pond. She was a life long member of Epiphany Baptist Church in Matoaca. She was also a member of the American Legion Post 136 Auxiliary, Matoaca Woman’s Club, and the Ettrick Friendship Club. Doris was a retired substitute school teacher with the Chesterfield School System. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 53 years Lawrence E. Hamm, a daughter; Jenny H. Dawley & husband John of Naperville IL., sons; John M. & James L. Hamm both of Ettrick, grandsons; John E. III “Jay” & Jeffrey J. “Jeff” Dawley both of Naperville, IL., beloved sister; June P. Simmons & husband John of Matoaca, sisters-in-law; Mary H. Hawkins & husband William of Ettrick, Rebecca H. Jones & husband Howard of Colonial Heights, and numerous nieces & nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 28, 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T.Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home chapel Wednesday, November 29 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Wayne Lowe, Jr., of Epiphany Baptist Church officiating and the Rev. John Lee Sullivan assisting. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park in Prince George. Flowers are welcome, however, contributions may be made to Crater Community Hospice 840 W. Roslyn Road. June and The Hamm Family,
We were so very sorry to learn of Doris death. She was a sweet and friendly lady. She will be missed by all her knew her. May God bless & comfort you in your sorrow & may you find peace knowing she is free from pain & sickness and is now watching over her loved ones with her heavenly Father. Jenny,

I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of your mother. I thought a lot of Ms. Doris. You and your brothers are in my prayers, also your father. I'm sure he is going to need some support in the next few weeks. Tell everyone I said hello and I will keep you in my prayers. I'll try and call in a couple of weeks to check on everyone.

Our most sincerest sympathies to Mr. Lawrence, Jenny, Johnny and Jim. I've known Mrs Hamm all my life and she was dearest, sweetest person that I have ever known. I will always have memories of her as a substitute at Matoaca High School, a neighbor and a dear friend. She will be dearly missed.
