We have lost a wonderful woman. As an 18-year old country girl in her first "real" job, I could not have asked for a better person to mentor me. She also taught me many things about life. She took me out for my first alcoholic beverage when I turned 21. She and Harve were wonderful to me. I left the area in 1980 to further my career. I recently moved back and had the pleasure of seeing Faye several times--I realize now I should have made time to see her more but family issues prevented that many times. My intentions were good but you know how that goes. Much love to her family--she is at peace. She was a lovely, fun, humerous, and kind person that will be missed by all.
Faye had a heart of gold. She was young at heart, which enabled her to connect with all the young women she worked with. They thought of her like a second Mother and listened to the advice and wisdom she offered, even if it wasn't always taken. May treasured memories warm the hearts of those she loved and cared about. May they bring a smile to your face, a twinkle to your eyes and put a laugh upon your lips. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Diana
Faye was one of many wonderful people who welcomed me and my family when we transferred to Ft Lee from Hawaii in 1978. She was a great help and comfort to me throughout my career at Ft Lee. She is remembered with great warmth and love ... as is her husband, Harv, ... Our hearts and prayers are with her family.
It's appropriate that Faye is going back to her roots, the town of Rose, in the coal-mining hills of southwest Virginia. She was a wonderful ambassador for the pride, dignity, and caring nature of the folks living there; she deserves a hero's welcome upon her return.
I knew Faye as my caring secretary at Ft. Lee, as a fellow Washington Redskin mad-dog fan, as a friend, and as one who inspired me and, seemingly, all she contacted. Raising your sights was a mandate when you knew Faye -- that was he impact she had on people!
Faye's memory will always be carried in my heart. Despite missing her, I am happy she has finally found a lasting peace that she so richly deserves.
I was very saddened to hear of Faye's passing. She was a true friend and I have so many memories of her, the family and many many friends of hers. She was a delight to be around, and her heart was HUGE. My heart and prayers are with the family and Bill right now. Faye was a treasure that I will miss dearly.
