Catlett, James R., Sr.

James R. Catlett, Sr., 66, of Hopewell died Wednesday, November 1, 2006 in John Randolph Medical Center. He was born in Emporia, VA and had been a long time resident of the Hopewell area. Mr. Catlett was a retired Security Guard with Chambers Waste Management Co. He was preceded in death by his parents, John William and Eva Mae Hope Catlett and a grandson, Jerry Shackelford. Mr. Catlett is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Catlett of Hopewell, two daughters, Shirley Shackelford and her husband Richard of Prince George, Brenda Catlett of Hopewell, three sons, James Robert Catlett, Jr. and his wife Victoria, John W. Catlett and his wife Joanne, Phillip “Pop” Catlett and his wife Jennifer, all of Hopewell, 7 grandchildren, April Lamkin of Hopewell, Andy Shackelford of Prince George, Lorianne, Jowanna, Virginia, Hope and Aaron Catlett, all of Hopewell, 2 great grandchildren, Brenda R. Lamkin of Prince George, Ashley N. Adams of Hopewell, four sisters, Mattie Creath of Lawrenceville, VA, Mary Lipscomb of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Glenda Doyle of Charles City County, Joyce Plott of Virginia Beach, and one brother, Eugene Catlett of Chesterfield County. The family will receive friends Thursday, November 2, 2006 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. A funeral service will be held Friday, November 3, 2006 at 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jerry Davis of Broadway Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be private.
