Ruby Cornwell Drewry, 90, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2006 at Tandem Health Care, Windsor, VA. Ruby, a homemaker in Wakefield, was the widow of R. C. "Buck" Drewry. Born September 4, 1916 in Sussex County, VA, she was the daughter of the late LeRoy Jason Cornwell and Josephine Pittman Cornwell.

She is survived by her daughter, Catherine D. Le Sueur and husband Thom of Wakefield; three grandchildren, Tami L. Bass and William "Bill" Jenkins, both of Wakefield, and Ritchie T. Le Sueur of Chesterfield County, VA; and four great-grandchildren, Matthew and Elizabeth Jenkins, Brandon Bass, and Joshua Le Sueur. Ruby was preceded in death by a daughter Jean D. Jenkins, two brothers LeRoy J. Cornwell, Jr. and John "Alex" Cornwell, and her sister Virginia C. Boykin.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2006, 2:00 p.m., in Wakefield Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of Mrs. Drewry's granddaughter, Tami Bass, 37372 Old Wakefield Road, Wakefield. Memorial donations may be made to the Waverly Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 583, Waverly, Virginia 23890 or the Ivor Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 213, Ivor, Virginia 23866. Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, is handling arrangements.
