Joseph Gerard Poitras, 59, of Hopewell died Wednesday, September 20, 2006 in John Randolph Medical Center. He was born in Grand Falls, Canada. Mr. Poitras served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a drywall finisher for ISC. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rita Lagace Poitras and a brother, Robert Poitras. Mr. Poitras is survived by his wife, Laura Goodskey Poitras of Hopewell, one daughter, Lisa D. Melzer and her husband Josh of Mystic, CT, two sons, Scott S. Poitras and his wife Patty, Kevin J. Poitras and his wife, Sharon all of Hopewell, his father, Matt Poitras of Old Saybrook, CT, 9 grandchildren, Patricia, Sabrenna, Devon, Joseph, Victoria, Gabriel, Jacqueline, Jenna and Caleb, four sisters, Ginette Davis of Old Saybrook, CT, Diane Poitras of Westbrook, CT, Mona Premo of Groton, CT, Jackie Clift of Pawcatuck, CT, and one brother, Alphee Poitras of Ivoryton, CT. A funeral service will be held Monday, September 25, 2006 at 7:00 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
