Patterson, Betty R.Tuesday, September 19, 2006
Betty Ruth Christian Patterson, 75, of Chester, Virginia, died Sunday, September 17, 2006. Mrs. Patterson, a former resident of Hopewell, was born in Tazewell County, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, John William and Lillie Reedy Christian, and a son, Gary Edward Patterson. Surviving are a son, Donald Eugene Patterson and wife, Marion, of Chester, a daughter, Donna Marie Patterson of Richardson, Texas, two grandchildren, Keith Edward Patterson of Hopewell, and Sarah E. Patterson of Chester, a sister Ann Crain of Pearisburg, VA, and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 20, 2006 from 7 – 8:30 p.m. at Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park. The procession will leave from the Hopewell Chapel on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Condolences
I was so sorry to hear of your mothers passing. It wasn't long ago I was looking at old pictures and saw one of her playing cards with my mom and remembered the old times. I lived across from her on Ramsey Ave. in Hopewell for 9 years and she was a wonderful person to talk with even when she was working in the yard she would stop and talk to me on my way home from school.
