Harris, Maragaret M.

Margaret McCann Harris of Westminster Canterbury died at Retreat Hospital on September 13, 2006 after a brief illness. She was a Petersburg native and a graduate of The College of William and Mary. A one time school teacher and travel agent, she is the widow of Carroll W. McCann and Frank H. Harris, Jr. She was an extremely capable bridge player and an intrepid traveler. Blessed with a keen intellect, a spontaneous sense of humor and abundantcuriosity, she was a loyal friend and interesting companion, and will be greatly missed by her friends and family. She is survived by a daughter, Margaret McCann Syme, her husband Bernard, and their children Blair and
Chapman, and by a son, Frank B. McCann III, his wife Kathleen, and their sons Charlie and John. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the St. Christopher’s School Foundation, 711 St. Christopher’s Road, Richmond, VA 23226. A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, September 16 at
Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg. The family is being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.

Margaret Ann called me Saturday afternoon to tell me the sad news of Margaret's passing. I know it is difficult to lose a special person like your Mother. She was well loved and left me with many fond memories. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Boston called me today with the sad news. I am so sorry I feel that a very important person in my life has been taken from me. I wish I could be with y'all tomorow, but know my thoughts will be with you both. Shed a tear for me.

For Frank McCann III. My mother informed me of your Mother's passing. My father is not well, yet asked us to pass along our family's condolences. I have always heard about your grandfather ("Uncle Frank" to my father) and wish the best to you and your family.
