Cooke, Vella W.

Vella Withers Cooke, 102, of Hopewell died Monday, August 21, 2006 in Southside Regional Medical Center. She was born in Somerset, KY and had been a long time resident of Hopewell. Mrs. Cooke was a retired Assistant Manager of Somerset Department Store. She was the widow of Ret. Lt. Col. Ellis A. Cooke. Her daughter, Judith Anne Cooke, passed away on the same day as her mother. Mrs. Cooke is survived by a son, Fletcher Alvin Cooke of Hopewell, two grandchildren, Jennifer C. Boynton of Augusta, ME, Elizabeth Darcy Cooke of Nashville, TN, numerous nieces and nephews and her caregiver Cheryl A. St. Denis of Chesterfield. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 24, 2006 from 7:00 to 8:00 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A graveside service will be held Friday, August 25, 2006 at 10:00 AM in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, with the Rev. Wayne Rickman, pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating.
