Ola Ellison Thomas age 74 died peacefully in her sleep Saturday morning, August 19, 2006 in the home of her birth in Chester. She is survived by her children, Nancy Gorman Blount of Carthage, NC and James H. Gorman of Blacksburg; daughter-in-law, Cathy H. Gorman; grandchildren, Jeremy and Jed Gorman; sister, Nancy E. Nance of Virginia Beach; brother, Charles Ellison of Glen Burnie, MD; sister-in-law, Hana Ellison; step-children, Jim Thomas of Danville, Richard Thomas of Richmond, Caroline Moffitt and Rand Thomas; several step-grandchildren and much loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr.& Mrs. John I. Ellison; her husband, Charles R. Thomas and beloved son-in-law, K. Douglas Blount. Ola was a real estate agent for 35 years where her clients became her friends. She was a spirited and outspoken woman with true generosity in her heart. Her greatest loves were her family, home and garden, Christmas, politics, the stock market and her dog, Boxcar. Her family knows their world will be a different one without her. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. Tuesday, Aug. 22 at the Chesterfield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Graveside services will be conducted 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, Aug. 23 in Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Doug Blount Media Center at West End Christian School, 1600 Atlantic St., Hopewell, VA 23860. Nancy, we were so sorry to hear about your mom. Even though these things are expected it doesn't make them any less painful. You and your family are in our thoughts.

Nancy, I was so sorry to hear about your loss. I hope that Mary's presence was a comfort to your mother in her last days. I am sure your mother is smiling down on your family after that touching obituary that was in the newspaper. It was truly a tribute to her life. Take care & know that you & your family are in our thoughts & prayers.
