Hanzlik, George R.

George Raymond Hanzlik, 71, of Petersburg, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2006. Born in Prince George County, he was the son of the late Wesley H. and Emily Glazier Hanzlik. Mr. Hanzlik retired from Smurfitt-Stone, Hopewell, after 36 years of service and was a lifelong member of Church of the Sacred Heart, New Bohemia, where he served as Chairman of the cemetery committee for over 25 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Marie Kvasnicka Hanzlik; daughters, Diane Hanzlik of Mechanicsville and Nancy Hanzlik Barringer and husband, Scott of Fredericksburg; grandchildren, Jordan Barringer and Joan Barringer of Fredericksburg; brother, Joseph W. Hanzlik of Waverly; sister, Evelyn H. Jones of Hopewell; several nieces and nephews; and the special administration and staff of Eden Pines Assisted Living. A Mass of the Resurrection will be said at 10 AM Saturday, July 29, at Church of the Sacred Heart, Father Jay Wagner, Celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A Christian wake service will be held at 7 PM Friday at the church followed by family visitation. In lieu of flowers, contribution may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 4600 Cox Road, Suite 130, Glen Allen, VA 23060 or to Church of the Sacred Heart Building Fund, 4415 County Drive, Petersburg, VA 23805.
