Dawson, Elsie J.

Elsie Josephine Dawson, 89, of Dinwiddie County, widow of Conrad P. Dawson, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2006. Born in Boydton, VA, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Mary Kennedy Bowlin. Elsie was very strong in her faith and was an active member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. She enjoyed music and dancing, and cherished her many friendships. Elsie remained very active and outgoing until age 88 and only in recent months did her health begin to fail. She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Joann Payne of Fairfax, VA and Connie Harman and husband, Dr. Douglas W. Harman, DDS of Prince George; grandchildren, Gerald P. Journey, Frank Payne, Charlie Payne, and Julia Payne; great-grandchild, Kirstin Journey; sisters, Pearl Maitland of Sutherland and Alma Long of Danville; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 P. M. Wednesday, July 19, at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service with Pastor Rodney Jenkins of Pine Grove Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at East Matoaca Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P. M. tonight at the funeral home.
