Abernathy, Dorothy O.

Dorothy O. Abernathy, 83, of McKenney, widow of Grover L. Abernathy, Sr. died Friday, June 30, 2006. She was born in Lunenburg County, VA and was the daughter of the late Walter H. and Annie Virginia Wallace Overton. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, McKenney and was retired from Rochester Button Co., McKenney after 42 years of service. She is survived by four children and their spouses, Gloria and Douglas Cliborne of McKenney, Wilson and Joni Abernathy of Petersburg, G. L. and Joyce Abernathy, Jr. of McKenney and Pamela A. and James Buyalos, Jr. of Chester; sister, June Adkins of Petersburg; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church with Pastor Lee Price and Rev. Ted Owens, pastor of Sharon Baptist Church, officiating.
