Mott “Shorty” T. Simms, age 77 of Richmond, VA went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 7, 2006. He is survived by his wife, Shirley L. Simms; son and daughter in-law, Ken and Cheryl Simms of Chesterfield, VA; daughter and son in-law, Sheila and Norman Gallagher of Mechanicsville, VA; two stepsons, Stanley Watson of Ashland, VA and Wayne Watson also of Ashland; and eight grandchildren. Shorty was retired from Phillip Morris. He served his country honorably and was a veteran of the U. S. Army and Air Force. The family will receive friends at the J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Chesterfield on Thursday, June 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. where funeral services will follow on Friday, June 9, 12 p.m. Interment will follow in Dale Memorial Park of Chesterfield. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to Kingsland Baptist Church building fund, 8801 Perrymont Rd., Richmond, VA 23237, in memory of Shorty Simms. We hope that Shorty's trip to heaven is short and that he doesn't lose too many aluminum cans off the back of the pick-up truck on the way there. He may not be the best angel getting his wings this week, but he's definitely in the top ten.
