Grace Berryman Jones, 84, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, Virginia. She was the widow of Tommie G. Jones. Born July 20, 1921 in Surry County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Milton Berryman and Julia Anne Berryman Berryman. Mrs. Jones had retired from the Surrey House Restaurant.

She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Anne Sowards of Disputanta, Brenda Jean Carroll of Elberon, Ernest Melvin Jones and Milton G. Jones, both of Ivor; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her brother, Eugene M. Berryman of Surry. She was predeceased by a brother, Lewis M. Berryman, and sisters, Alma Albrecht and Catherine Berryman.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 9, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. in Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, Surry, with the Rev. Gary Ross officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of Brenda and Percy Carroll, 3662 Runnymede Rd., Elberon, on Thursday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Surry Vol. Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 188, Surry, VA 23883. Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, assisted the family with arrangements.
