John David Thompson, 57, of Hopewell, died Wednesday, April 19 2006. He was born in Smyth County, Virginia. Mr. Thompson was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the U. S. Navy and was a self-employed Plumber. Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Melissa Nichols Thompson and his wife, Brigitte Inga Thompson. Surviving are his two daughters, Tracy L. McLellan and husband Marty McLellan II, and Kimberly Ann Nix and husband Michael Nix all of Midlothian, his grandchildren, Justin, Trey, Destiny, and Michael, his father, Everett Lee Thompson of Tennessee, brothers, Robert William Thompson of Tennessee, and Marvin Lee Thompson of Ashland. The family will receive friends Friday, April 21, 2006 from 6-8:30 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 22, 2006 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Troy Kaichen, officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, Va. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. John was a great neighbor and he will be missed. I used to always fuss at him and tell him he was hard headed because he would come out to get his paper without putting on shoes and a shirt no matter what time of year it was. Good neighbors and hard to find so I am glad that I got a chance to meet him.

I met Mr. Thompson while working at Haley Ford when he would bring his truck in for service. He would always share his plumbing stories with me and would make me laugh when I was having a terrible day. I am sorry for the loss of a kind man. I will keep your family in my prayers. Sincerely,
