Reid, Velva R.

Velva Rider Reid, 93, of Chester, died Thursday, February 9, 2006 in Colonial Heights Health Care Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Hopewell and was a librarian in Scottdale, PA before her retirement. Mrs. Reid was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene E. and Sylvia Hough Rider, her husband Charles Rinard Reid, and a son, C. Kent Reid. She is survived by a son, Barry Gene Reid and his wife Brenda of Chester, two grandchildren, Bruce Reid and his wife Ashley, also of Chester, Beth Reid of Princeton, NJ, two great grandchildren, Jacob Reid and Maggie Reid, both of Chester. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 12, 2006 from 2:00 to 4:00PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held Monday, February 13, 2006 at 10:30AM in the First Baptist Church, Hopewell, VA, with the Rev. Jeffrey Raymond, pastor officiating.
