RUSSELL EDWARD PARHAM, 65, passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, January 16, 2006, after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. Born in Windsor, VA he was a son of the late Lewis Thomas Parham and Elizabeth Louise Lovegrove Parham. Russell served his country in the U. S. Army; worked with and operated heavy equipment, worked in well drilling, and retired from Waste Management. He most enjoyed his workshop he called “Pop’s Garage” where he did his woodworking. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and gardener. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Louise Scott Parham.

Russell is also survived by three sons, Ryland Thomas “Tommy” Parham and wife, Sherry, of Suffolk, Ronald Wade “Ronnie” Parham and wife, Regina, of Waverly, and Kenneth Wayne “Kenny” Parham of Claremont; one daughter, Teresa P. Buhls and husband, Kendal, of Waverly; six grandchildren, Jennifer Parham, Rusty Parham, Wade Parham, Cameron Parham, Kristen Buhls, Lauren Buhls; one great-grandchild, Connor Morris; brother, Lewis Henry Parham; sisters, Barbara P. Bryant, Linda Blythe, and Judy Davis; and his special mother-in-law, Hilda “Nanny” Scott.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 20, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, with the Rev. Jim Acree officiating. Interment will follow in Waverly Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Purviance Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements. Condolences may be posted at www.jtmorriss.com. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the family or funeral home to help offset expenses.

I'm so happy I was able to spend the time I did with Russell the week before he passed. We had some wonderful talks and I will cherish it forever. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I love you all.

I am sorry for your loss I wih i could have had time to get to know him better from what i did know of him and from meeting him he was a great man. from KEITH E HENLINE (his great nephew)
