Junius L. “J.L.” Cox, Jr., 87, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2005 at Louise Obici Memorial Hospital, Suffolk, Virginia. Born in Sussex County he was the son of the late Junius L. Cox, Sr., and Mattie Harris Cox. He was a retired farmer, had worked for the U. S. Postal Service, and was a member of Waverly Congregational Christian Church. He was predeceased by his wife, Muriel Woody Cox.

Mr. Cox is survived by his son, Charles J. Cox and wife, Jackie, of Waverly; two daughters, Alma Cox Burke and husband, Jeff, of Richmond, and Teresa Ann Cox of Waverly; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, on Saturday, December 31, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Joy Heaton officiating. Interment will follow in Waverly Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Waverly Vol. Rescue Squad, P.O.
