Mary Lou,

I was deeply saddened to hear about the recent passing of your mother Gracie. I saw her, on her walk, in Walnut Hill about 2 years ago before we left Petersburg – she was as warm, gracious and sharp witted as ever. I worked with Gracie at Bollingbrook for 10 years and I often think that she was an adopted mother to me and other young teachers, administrators and children who passed through the doors on their way to adulthood. Gracie was always calm, dedicated, loyal and kind – a true Christian lady.

Gracie touched and enriched the lives of all who crossed her path because of her love and her grace. She was a very special person.

Please know that our hearts are with you during this most difficult time.

My sincere condolences to Mrs. Farrar's family.
I delivered mail on Oakland Street and enjoyed
talking to her and seeing her on my rounds.
She was a very pleasant person. My thoughts are
with you.
