George Linwood Townsend, Jr., 59, of Suffolk, went to join his wife, Barbara June Townsend, on Monday, October 17, 2005. He was born in Prince George County and was an employee of Lipton Tea Company. He was the son of the late George L. Sr. and Sadie Moore Townsend.
Surviving are a daughter, Michelle Tibbs of Suffolk; two sons George L. Townsend III of Petersburg and David A. Townsend of Suffolk; five grandchildren, Sarah, Travis, Alexis, Cody, & Kerrah; two sisters, Georgia Holman of Hopewell, and Anne Townsend of N.C.; three brothers, James Townsend and Seth Perry Townsend, both of Hopewell and Robert Tad Moore of Rocky Mount, NC.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 19, 2005, from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2005, at 12:00 noon in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, Prince George, VA. Condolences may be registered with wwwjtmorriss.com.
