Arthur W. Edwards, Jr., 75 of Hopewell, died Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at his residence. Mr. Edwards retired from the U.S. Army as a Sgt. Major, and was a retired District Manager with The Richmond Times Dispatch. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur W. Edwards, Sr. and Rosa Lee Broadwater Edwards, his wife, Minnie Ballard Edwards, and son-in-law Rick Hicks. Mr. Edwards is survived by three daughters, Brenda K. Hill and her husband Wesley, of Hopewell, Elizabeth E. Gray and her husband Horace, Jennifer E. Hicks, all of Richmond, one son, Michial G. Edwards, Sr. and his wife Anne of Waverly, 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, one sister, Helen Dunson of Auburn, AL and a brother, Winston Edwards of Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 22, 2005 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A graveside service, with military honors, will be held Friday, September 23, 2005 at 10:00 AM in Appomattox Cemetery. Condolences may be registered with jtmorriss.com

Dear Art,
I miss the times we had when we worked together at the Chester office of the Richmond Times. I remember the stroke that left you without the great gift of gab, but still nothing seemed to be able to take the spark from your eyes, or the fire from your soul. I miss the times in your kitchen sipping coffee with you and your sweet wife. You both are together again. God speed on your new lifes journey. I will forever have fond memories of our brief times in each other's life. God Bless
