Louise H. Childs, 62, of Colonial Heights, passed away Monday, September 19, 2005. Born in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Rachel Barricks Hughes. A devoted wife and mother, she retired after eighteen years with the Colonial Heights Police Department, and was a Past President of the Colonial Heights Quarterback Club. Mrs. Childs was preceded in death by her aunt, Sarah “Siro” Whitby; twin brother, David Hughes; brothers, Eddie Hughes, Mac Hughes, and Donald Hughes. She is survived by her husband, Floyd Raymond “Beanie” Childs, Jr.; sons, Brian Childs and wife, Margaret Childs and Daryl Childs; grandchildren, Nathan Childs, Rachel Childs, and Meagan Childs and her mother, Kimberly Hairfield; brothers, Marshall Hughes and wife, Joann and Thomas Gene Hughes; sister, Patricia Pugh and husband, Lloyd Pugh; sister-in-law, Julie Hughes; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 PM Thursday, September 22, at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Private entombment will be at Southlawn Memorial Park. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.
