Dear Family
Aunt Lois , Aunt Charolette, Mom , Uncle Gibson , and Adam I know that we have lost two very important people in all of our lives and all of us are hurting in our own ways , but i just wanted to say how much our love and support for each other has helped us through some of the worst of it. That's what Pop-pop and Grandma would have wanted. I love you all and just remember we still have each other.
With all my Love ~ Allyson

I know that these are very trying times for all of you, but I hope that the care and concern shown to you by family and friends will help to heal the wound left by their sudden department. They will be greatly missed by many. If I can ever be of assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me at 434-696-3061.

I lost my own parents, ages 78 and 83 due to an automobile accident, my mother was driving, also. It has been 7 years and time does heal the hurt, somewhat. Of course, you are never the same without your parents, but you can get through it. I also had great parents, like yourselves. It hurts so much, but try to look at the positive things about the way they went; they didn't either one have to suffer through going to the other one's funeral,or living alone without the other one. Either one of them would probably have been miserable without the other one. They can never be hurt again in any way. The family left on earth is the ones hurting, your parents are in a much better place. I have thought of your family every day since this happened and my heart goes out to you. I didn't know your parents, only knew of Ragsdale Building Supply.
We were shocked to hear the tragic accident and saddened by the loss of Robert and Betty. We would like to express our deepest sympathy.
Charlotte,
I haven't talked to you in years but you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I was so sadden to hear of your parent's accident but we must look for solice in this time of great grief...they went together. I remember your mother with great regard. She had the GREATEST laugh and she was so fun as a Homeroom mom at Blackstone Day School. I remember her doing the Genie neck to entertain us! What a wonderful memory for me. I didn't know your dad but my departed father always spoke of him with high respect. It was an honor to have known your Mother. God's peace be with you and may your happy memories of your parents always remain fresh.
Love,

I was really saddened when Marie called me at home and told me about the lost of your parents. I will truly miss your mother and seeing all the treasures she would find before joining us for lunch at La Petite France.
She would speak of your father all the time with great love in her voice. I thank God they crossed over hand in hand; they would not have it any other way. We will all miss their laughs and warm smiles.
Your mother and dad were such nice people. I got to know Betty when she became a member of the Cockade City Garden Club. She and I organized the luncheon together for garden day for the past couple of years. So I was able to get to know her fairly well. She was suxh a delite . We also would see each other at Jane's jewelry show in Richmond. I can still hear her voice when she would call me on the phone and leave a message; Linda, this is Betty Ragsdale, call me. I know you will miss them terribly but they will always remain in your hearts forever.
Fondly, Linda Wynne

Ann, Lois, Gibson, and Charlotte,
I am thinking of you, Adam, Allyson, and other family members and wish that I could be there with you. I loved Robert so much. He is one of my "very special" childhood memories. When I was there, I would so look forward to his eating lunch at Grandmother's and also visiting with him at the lumbermill. He was always so good to me and made me feel like I was special. He had that knack, didn't he?
I can sort of remember your mom and dad's wedding in Texas when I was nine. Your mom wasn't "blood kin," but she treated my sister and me like we were when we visited in Virginia, and I can remember being a guest in four different homes and playing with four different children! She certainly gained my love and respect over the years. Your parents were truly very special people and I know they will be missed by many people from many different areas of their lives.
Your cousin Donna
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. We know that Robert and Betty are in heaven .
You have our deepest and most sincere sympathy over your tragic loss. Although we did not know your mother well, we did know your dad very well, he was a kind, caring and generous man. It was such a shock to hear that they are no longer with us. They will both be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with you.

We are sorry for your loss, Mr. & Mrs. Ragsdale's Family Members are in our thoughts & prayers.
I have known the Ragsdales since 1974 when I moved to Dinwiddie, with my parents, from my original home in Massachusetts. My first job in Virginia was at Ragsdale Building Supply when I was only l8 years old. Robert was a great boss and so pleasant to be around. He was always such a sociable person and I know he will be greatly missed, as will Betty. It is such a tragedy and my heart goes out to their family and friends. The community has lost a great couple.
Sincerely, Cathie McCormack Richardson, Chester, VA

We want to express our sympathy and sorrow for the loss of Robert and Betty. It is such a deep personal loss as well as a loss to the whole community. My father remembers well the visits he made to the business and how much he enjoyed being with Robert. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Lois, Anne, Charlotte and Gibson: You're in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. I have fond memories of your parents. My deepest sympathy, Sarah Hawkes
Betty and I were water aerobics buddies. She had a warm and friendly smile, and a dry wit about her. She was a born leader, and often led our class. She will be greatly missed by all of us!!!
We will also miss that great chicken salad she made for the Garden Club Week Luncheon at Christ and Grace. Our condolences to the family on their huge loss of both mother and father.

You all are in my thoughts and prayers. Your parents were wonderful people who touched many lives, and their presence will be greatly missed. Words are inadequate at a time like this; just know that your family is surrounded with love and caring.
Lois-
I am so sorry to hear of the death of your parents. I am sure that the sudden awful shock leaves an enormous void and great sorrow.
I just wanted to let you know that I was thinking of you and Charlotte and your family.
Love to see you when you're back sometime. We're still in Westover Hills -

Please accept my heartfelt thoughts for all of you.You were truly blessed with great parents and models of the community.Robert was one of the most admired people in my life, always a gentleman to all.
God bless you.
We will miss your Mom and Dad greatly. Your Dad was a true Southern Gentleman, he always had a smile and friendly words for everyone. They both had a giving heart and shared their blessings with many people in our community. Your Mom was truly a gracious and loving woman with a sense of humor that is very rare. They were a perfect couple and we know that you will always be blessed for having them as your parents. Knowing that they both loved and adorned you all each in their own ways. Dinwiddie County will miss them both and we will miss a neighbor and friend. We will be praying for you and remembering them and the moments that we shared in our life times.
So sorry to hear of the loss of a great community figure. Your grief is shared by many.
Dear Charoltte,
I was just told of the tragic loss of your parents and am overwhelmed by a tremendous sense of sorrow and lack of any adequate expression for the deep sorrow and sympathy that I feel.
You and your family are in my constant thoughts and prayers at this time.
Larry
I am so sorry to hear of this loss to our community. Betty Ragsdale was the best friend that a library could have. She was a loyal and delightful patron on the bookmobile and she spoiled all of us with her delicious home cooking.
We will all miss her very much on the bookmobile and in Hopewell.
