Shell, Virginia "Ginny" Melandie Bowe

Virginia “Ginny” Melandie Bowe Shell, 49, of Dinwiddie County, passed away Friday, July 15, 2005. Born in Petersburg, she was the daughter of Carlton E. and Marie Story Bowe. A loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, and friend, Ginny was a member of West End Baptist Church, Dinwiddie and also attended Smyrna Baptist Church, Dinwiddie, and New Covenant Church of the Brethren, Enon. She was the lead singer of the Good News Gospel Band for 10 years and worked as a registrar for the Department of Defense. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Michael “Mike” Shell; two daughters, Wanda Lee of Colonial Heights and Patricia Mitchell of Dinwiddie; step-daughter, Amy Lynne Shell of Chicago, IL; two grandchildren, Starr Lee and Miranda Mitchell; two sisters, Carolyn Cogle and husband, Danny and Joan Bowe; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 19, at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service with the Rev. James McKinnell officiating. Interment will follow at the Shell Family Cemetery, DeWitt. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 PM Monday at the funeral home. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com

Mike and Family,

Deepest sympathy for your loss. Ginny was such a compassionate person who always shared a kind word and a pleasant smile. Please know that we co-workers enjoyed our partnership with Ginny. She was a great team member and brought sunshine into our lives. I am thankful for the time I was fortunate to spend with her.
