Rugar, Sr., Ronald C.

On June 17, 2005, Heaven has welcomed a precious servant and dedicated witness, Ronald Clair Rugar, Sr., 71, of Dinwiddie County, who entered eternal rest and peace at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Julie and David Phillingane, Jr., in DeWitt, VA. He was born in New York but had made his home in Virginia for the last 65 years. He was a faithful member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, Dinwiddie County, where he was a member of the Heavenly Bound Sunday School Class, the church choir, and where he grew spiritually under the direction of Rev. Russell Fail. He was a retired employee of Brown & Williamson Tobacco with 23 years of service and Solar Optical with 9 years. Mr. Rugar was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry and Delsie Riggans Rugar; sisters, Florence Sylvester and Ann Rawlings; and brother, Charles Rugar. He is survived by his devoted Christian wife of 36 years, Selesa Perkinson Rugar; nine children and their spouses, Julie and David Phillingane, Jr. of DeWitt, Billy and Heather Rugar of Colonial Heights, Jimmy and Janet Perkinson of Dinwiddie, Tamara and Will Reese of Chester, Charlotte Hague, Jerry and Annette Perkinson of Dinwiddie, Ronald, Jr. and Sandy Rugar of Macon, GA, David and Joann Perkinson of Chester, and Linda and Paul Polinski of Burgaw, NC. He was the loving grandfather of 26 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Barbara Rugar of Richmond; several devoted nieces and nephews; and his faithful deacon, Ray Reason. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 PM Sunday at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be conducted at 3 PM Monday, June 20, at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Davis, who led Mr. Rugar to Christ, officiating. Interment will follow at Blandford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pine Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 7204 Boydton Plank Road, Petersburg, VA 23803 or Crater Community Hospice, 840 W.
