Cloninger, Ella L.

Ella L. Cloninger, 91, of Sussex County (formerly of Hopewell), Virginia departed this life May 17, 2005 at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, Virginia. Mrs. Cloninger was born July 27, 1913 in Franklin, Virginia, the ninth of ten children of Harry John Lewis and Willie Ella Wade Lewis. She was preceded in death by her husband O.R. “Dick” Cloninger and her four brothers and five sisters. She was a charter member of Powers Memorial Baptist Church where she for many years worked in the nursery. Mrs. Cloninger is survived by her son David L. Cloninger and wife Lie of Sussex County, Virginia, four grandchildren, Richard D. Cloninger and wife April of Dewitt, Virginia, Christina D. Garzini and husband Craig of Prince George County, Virginia, Benjamin S. Cloninger and Timothy T. Cloninger both of Sussex County, Virginia and five great-grandchildren, David Austin, Makenzie R. and Dakota N. Cloninger and Alyssa M. and Kendall R. Garzini. The family will receive friends at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Hopewell, Virginia on Friday, May 20, 2005 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2005 at 5:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Appomattox Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the children’s ministry of Powers Memorial Baptist Church, 2807 Jackson Street, Hopewell, Virginia 23860.
