Yates, Dovie M.

Mrs. Dovie Massey Yates, 93, of Hopewell, died Saturday, May 14, 2005 in John Randolph Nursing Home. She was born in Patrick County, Va., and was a former Heretick Ave. resident. Mrs. Yates was very active in her church for years until her health kept her from attending. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee and Rosie Conway Massey, her husband, Ernest S. Yates and two daughters, Louise Yates and Ruth Y. Jones. Surviving are two daughters, Rachel Y. Eggleston and husband, John, of Hopewell and Dixie C. Myers and husband, Charlie of Prince George County, her grandchildren, Keith W. Eggleston and wife, Frances, Kay E. Eure and husband, Jim, Kenneth W. Eggleston and wife, Stephanie, Patricia L. Maple and husband, Mike, Douglas E. Jones and wife, Anna, Edward S. Collins and Steven M. Collins and wife, Diana, nine great-grandchildren, two sisters, Margaret R. Barton of Eden, NC and Christine M. Weaver of Burlington, NC. And several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service with the Rev. Robert Livesay III, of Oakland Baptist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends following the funeral service. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2005 in Overlook Cemetery, Eden, NC at 2:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity. God broke our hearts to prove He only takes the best. I remember Mrs. Yates from Church of the Brethren, where I attended as a young girl. Dixie it was so nice to see you when you visited with my family after my brother George died. You are in my thoughts and hope you are well.
